Masterplan for Sydney Olympic Park

Sydney Olympic Park Vision for Beyond 2000

Introduction

[Town Centre]

Sydney has just hosted what are universally regarded as the best Olympic Games and the best Paralympic Games ever.

The site at Sydney Olympic Park, with so many world class sporting facilities clustered together, and so close to the athlete’s village was crucial to the success of the Games.

Sport in New South Wales has a great legacy from the ongoing use of these great facilities.

However, the sports facilities alone are not enough to guarantee the viability of Sydney Olympic Park in the future.

Many other developments, working in harmony with the existing facilities at Sydney Olympic Park, will be required if the taxpayers of NSW are to realise the full value of their investment in the site.

This document outlines a vision for the sort of legacy which could be embraced for Australia’s premier sporting and entertainment precinct.
