The exhibition Olive Cotton, curated by Helen Ennis for the Art Gallery of New South Wales and on display at the National Library of Australia until 8 October 2000, reveals the photographic practice of Olive Cotton. In a career spanning six decades--ftom the 1930s to the 1990s--Cotton produced many outstanding photographs in such diverse fields as portraiture, still life and landscape. But it is the natural world that has been at the heart of her work, resulting in numerous photographs of natural subjects, such as Seed Head, Vapour Trail and Cherokee Rose.
