Dymphna
Cusack (1902-1981) was a teacher, broadcaster, lecturer, playwright and
novelist. She was part of an extended circle of women writers and
correspondents which included Katharine Susannah Prichard, Marjorie
Barnard, Flora Eldershaw and Miles Franklin. Books and plays translated
into 25 languages include Come in Spinner (1951) co-written with
Florence James and Pioneers on Parade (1939) with Miles Franklin. The
National Library of Australia acquired Dymphna Cusack's papers in a
number of consignments between 1959 and 1990. This photograph was
included in her papers.
