McKinney was a close friend of artist Charles Blackman, who painted him
reading at the age of 64. The relationship between Jack
McKinney--philosopher, journalist, bushman, soldier and writer--and
Judith Wright--poet, writer, environmentalist and activist for
Aboriginal rights--spanned 23 years.
