In
a career spanning more than 40 years, Ellis Rowan, a self-taught
artist, produced some 3000 paintings of wildflowers and birds. Rowan's
talent was instinctive and discovered almost by chance. She was one of
the first Australian artists to appreciate the richness and unique
beauty of Australian wildflowers. The National Library of Australia
