This portrait by Simon O'Dwyer is one of some 50 of his photographs viewable online from the Library’s collection. They principally portray the Victorian bushfires in January 2003, but other subjects include protests at the Word Economic Forum in Melbourne 2000, skindivers, windmills, and this image of a child being innoculated. The photographer describes the scenario:

'Assigned to photograph the annual immunisation week, I arrived at a preschool full of nervous parents waiting with their children for a shot ... I had photographed a dozen children when this little boy wearing a thick jumper arrived and sat down. The doctor was unable to get the sleeve high enough for the procedure, so his mother removed the garment to reveal a t-shirt with the hand made word of Superman. As the needle pricked his skin his face grimaced in pain creating a beautiful moment'.
