The travelling exhibition National Treasures from
Australia’s Great Libraries reflects many facets of Australian life,
from Ned Kelly’s bullet-scarred helmet and his Jerilderie Letter to Don
Bradman’s bat and the Ern Malley hoax. Drawn from the magnificent
collections of Australia’s national, state and territory libraries,
many of the items symbolically represent moments in history that have
helped to define our sense of the present and the past.
National
Treasures from Australia’s Great Libraries tells a rich and remarkable
story about our history, our nation, our treasures ... and our
libraries. This exhibition opens in Canberra on 3 December and tours to
capital cities until 2007.
