The 'Great Aussie Yarn' is a unique fireside cultural festival, which helps celebrate our distinct 'Australian' character through humour and amateur prose. Knopwood Festival - Rokeby Village

Sunday 1st - Sunday 7th April
An action packed week in Rokeby to celebrate the Centenary of Federation with historic photo displays, a community family fun day, fire and light event, the Knopwood lecture, and opening on the 1st the Old Rokeby Historic Trail* at St Matthews Church which includes a guided walk of the village section of the trial, through the First Settlers Historic graves and a bus tour of a rural section of the trail.

Coastal Youth Arts Festival - Devonport and Central Coast
Central Coast
31st March - 7th April
Featuring young bands from Devonport to the Central Coast, this festival also has workshops with 'Oppo' - performers who play musical instruments made out of recycled goods. A photographic exhibition of young people's perception of youth and life will also be on display.

Open Day at Lyons Historic Cottage

This open day is held at the cottage which commemorates Joe Lyons, State Premier and then PM of Australia 1932 — 1939. He was a pupil and teacher at Stanley State School at the time of Federation, 1891 — 1900.

Streets Alive - Launceston Streets
Launceston
This festival is dedicated to celebrating the arts and supporting young people and emerging visual and performing artists by taking them out of their studios and schools and into the city streets and spaces. To celebrate the Centenary of Federation the festival will recognise the past, present and future. Streets alive will offer a workshop program, forums, shop art and street parade along with performances and exhibitions. Northern Students Leaders Conference - Launceston Country Club Casino & Inveresk

Student leaders from all public and private Northern High Schools will come together for two days to focus on student leadership. Following motivational speeches and peer group challenges, students will work towards the creation of a youth charter. Students will look specifically at the concept of Federation and at the place of young people within the community, past, present and future.

East Coast Regional Development Organisation in association with IHOS Opera and Ten Days on the Island presents :
A truly local community project, Sea Chant - Settlers, Ships and Saw-Horses, which encompasses the history of the East Coast from 1901 to 2001, and looks beyond the edge. The East Coast region is rich in painters, writers, musicians, singers, poets, actors and crafts people, all of whom will come together with members of IHOS opera.

Open Day at the Variety Bay Pilot Station

The Bruny Island Historical Society have organised fully interpreted displays of the pilot station and guided tours throughout the day. Horse and sulky rides will add a Federation touch to the day’s activities. Bring your own picnic. Access to Variety Bay is via Great Bay Main Road. Time: 100.am-3.00pm

Penguin Rail Centenary*

It is 100 years since Federation and also 100 years since the first train went to Penguin. Enjoy this special celebration and festival and take part in the official opening ceremony of the restored railway station. This all day event will include a street market.

The exhibition will depict the East Coast in the early 1900’s. Display photographs, video, audio tapes, memorabilia and artefacts telling the story of people and industries in the early 1900’s. Centenary of Federation Autumn Festival - New Norfolk

In conjunction with the autumn festival, the Centenary of Federation Rowing Cup and Regatta will take place and a Centenary of Federation triathlon will be open to all competitors on the Esplanade, New Norfolk. Mount Field National Park will have an open day incorporating interpretive displays on the history, current value and future plans. Trevallyn State Reserve will have an Activities Day on both land and on Lake Trevallyn. The Nut State Reserve will also have an open day.

To celebrate the Centenary of Federation various displays will take place in the Centre during the opening. These include: The NW Porcelain Painters who will display a variety of tiles with Centenary of Federation theme and flora and fauna. Centenary of Federation National Trust Heritage Festival - State wide*

Australia it's what me make it is the title of this month long National Trust Festival which will be focussing on and celebrating the Centenary of Federation. The festival includes open houses, private and public, historical walks and educational and conservation workshops. Our Nation - Our Stories Competition.
Statewide
This is a competition for upper primary school students to celebrate the Centenary of Federation. Following a state forum of five finalists, one student and an accompanying adult will be flown to Melbourne for the Australian Education Assembly to be held from 18 to 20 April.
