PBS 106.7 FM Live Music Week to launch from Federation Square. PBS 106.7FM will launch it’s annual Live Music Week with a marathon 15 hour live broadcast from Federation Square on Friday, 2 December. The Melbourne Ska Orchestra has become an institution in the Melbourne Music scene. Started by Mohair Slim and Nicky Bomba in 2003, the first concert celebrated 40 years of Jamaican Ska Music. It was an instant hit and 200 people were turned away at the Esplanade’s Gershwin Room in St.Kilda. In the last eight years or so its been fast punk and hardcore like No Use For A Name, Lagwagon, Frenzal Rhomb, Bodyjar, Strike Anywhere, Rise Against, MYC/OIP, Mindsnare, Found My Direction, Taking Sides, Horsell Common, Miles Away, Heartfelt Self, Days of Iris and A Death in the Family, this list goes on forever. We first met in the Reykjavík College of Music in the mid 1990s, where we started out as a string quartet. Later, around 1997, we started working with various bands in Reykjavík and in 1999 our collaboration with the band Sigur Rós started. Touring with Sigur Rós and various studies in various countries kept us busy until last year when we decided to take the time to make our own music. more...

It has been over a year since Hermitude and Ozi Batla last dropped in on tHE bLEND. This time they were in town for the Tapedeck Tour mid September 2005, promoting the new album Tales of the Drift. They headlined the show which also featured performances by Plutonic Lab and Music Vs Physics. The Tapedeck Tour took them to Brizvegas, Byron, Freo, Perth and Adelaide, and finally to Melbourne.
