Simulation Awareness Research Program

Coordinated by

Dr. Vithanage Pemajayantha

Modelling and Simulation Group propose a program for simulation awareness. This program is quite suitable for talented students who have just completed HSC and are waiting for results. These students are an important spirit of our future and young community, and this workshop helps directly to our talented students as well as the University of Western Sydney in the following manner.

1. University of Western Sydney is an innovative institute looking forward to a bright future. This program is indeed innovative and attracts bright students to get involve in UWS programs and activities providing a better understanding of our strategy in servicing wider community.

2. It provides a marketing strategy in which some dedicated students get to know more closely the University of Western Sydney. Therefore, we expect them to provide a forum for discussion of our programs with other prospective students. Also, this attractive program will be open not only for talented but also for those students who are very dedicated and motivated in similar initiatives so that University of Western Sydney will be greatly benefited in competing educational market. The outcome from this program will be published in appropriate media.

3. Modelling and Simulation group consists of talented individuals, computer scientists, economics, engineers, mathematician and alike, and this program consequently provides a ground for sharing our talent with bright and talented young generation.

4. The program captures physical and human resources to compound a strong group thus providing a better base for simulation research at present at the University of Western Sydney and in future in Australia.

5. We have an expectation to extend this program in future so that all participants in this program may be involved in collaborative research program with the industry thus providing a source of income for our young participants.

The program includes introductory study and hands on experience in programming and/or modification of some simulation models as follows.

  1. Discussion on Introduction to dynamic and statistical modelling
  2. Workshop and lab work
  3. Library research and independent study, collection of data
  4. Practical programming exercises and a major project.
  5. Certificate of Achievement toward the successful completion of the program.
