Sue Dakin
Future Member for Ballina
Margin: -12.5%
Mentor: Carolyn Male MLA, QLD
Sue Dakin is a terrific second-time candidate in this hard to win north coast seat. Sue's campaign during the 1999 election reduced the margin from 18.7% to 12.5% and she believes she really has a chance of winning at this election.
Ballina is a diverse electorate with a broad range of constituents. Major towns include Ballina, Byron Bay and Mullumbimby. There is a substantial aged population, with a recent surge in the number of young and middle-aged professionals making a ‘sea change'.
Sue will argue that Ballina is suffering through lack of representation in Government, particularly in the areas of health and infrastructure. The sitting member has a reputation as a man of words, not of action. Sue has been working hard, door-knocking and telepolling. She enjoys a good relationship with the local media and a strong reputation as a community activist.
Sue needs EMILY's List assistance in funding to ensure she can run a strong campaign of radio advertising. We know she will do well. Please give her your support.
