Angela D'Amore
Future Member for Drummoyne
Margin: + 9.4%
Mentor: Kay Setches, VIC
Angela D'Amore is an excellent candidate. Angela joined the union movement in 1993. She has been an organiser with the Nurses' Association in New South Wales and has excellent networks and a strong commitment to improving public health.
Drummoyne has the largest Italian community in New South Wales with 32 per cent of the electorate having Italian heritage. Angela and her family are well known in the Italian community.
Angela's campaign theme is ‘Putting our Community First'. The major issues in the electorate are development, schools and community safety. Child care is also a significant issue in the area, and Angela is already campaigning on the issue of access to child care for residents of Drummoyne. While Drummoyne is a Labor seat, held by Speaker John Murray for 22 years, there is also a significant Green vote in the area which is expected to increase at the state election. They will put up a tough fight.
