War diverts valuable resources from socially useful projects. War deliberately disables so as to tie up manpower, equipment and supplies as well as psychologically weakening resistance. After a war, a country is left with a weakened economy and large numbers of people with a disability, who because of lack of rehabilitation, are often left on the margins of their community. The world's 500 million people with a disability understand the consequences of war. Jeff Heath calls on disability agencies |

In the 1990's a new term, Social Entrepreneur, was coined to describe people who use
innovative methods to achieve socially valued projects.
Jeff Heath has been practicing social entrepeneurship since the early 1980's, when in lest than 12 months he organised a major international conference that included full, or partial sponsorship for 93 delegates from developing nations of the Asia and Pacific region.
More recently, Jeff was selected as the second candidate on the
Australian Democrat Senate ticket for the 2001 half-Senate elections.
This site will be useful for all those wanting to know more about
Jeff Heath, for booking Jeff to speak to your group, or if
you would like to read copies of recent media releases,
Jeff Heath sharpened his political skills through his work with the disability sector. However his interests and skills are far broader. "Because of my work in the media, I have a strong interest in the full range of communication, information, technology and media issues". Likewise, my extensive travel has raised an interest in foreign affairs and foreign aid issues. "My particular passion is transport and urban design, including the quality of the urban environment."
Jeff is passionate and committed to:
- Home based care and support for people who are aged or disabled; improved standards for nursing homes and retirement villages.
- Improved compensation for the extra costs of disability.
- More satisfactory education, work training and options to be volunteers for all Australians.
- Housing that is energy efficient, and flexible enough to accommodate the changing needs of modern Australian families.
- An ABC that is financially secure and politically independent; greater support for all forms of community media.
- An end to the dogma of economic rationalism, the decimation of the public service and wholesale privatisation and outsourcing.
