ALAIN DE BOTTON was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1969 and grew up in Switzerland and England. He has written seven books. His fourth (and first non-fiction title), How Proust can Change Your Life, was published in 1997 and was a bestseller. His latest book is Status Anxiety.
