Seven Days in the Art World with Sarah Thornton

Event 18

Print Print
Sarah Thornton's breathtaking journey around the global art village has been described as a "Robert Altmanesque panorama". It allows the reader to be there too: talking to dealers and collectors and auctioneers, in the New York offices of Artforum, in the Tokyo studio of Takashi Murakami or, most astonishingly, inside the room for the judging of the Turner prize. Sarah Thornton will talk about her witty romp of a book, ‘Seven Days in the Art World’, which is already an international best-seller translated into 11 languages.

Presented with the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Sarah Thornton is the author of 'Seven Days in the Art World', a witty series of non-fiction narratives that reveal the inner workings of the institutions that contribute to an artist's place in art history. A lapsed academic, she has a PhD in sociology and used to teach full-time at Sussex University. Thornton now writes regularly about contemporary art for 'The Economist' and contributes to many other publications and broadcasts, such as BBC TV and radio, ZDF television, and NPR radio.
