The
Adelphi Theatre Company is a vibrant and enthusiastic team of performers
who work professionally within the performing arts industry as:
actors, directors, teachers, technicians, writers, singers and musicians.
They aim to produce high-quality theatre, which celebrates, encourages
and explores the possibilities of live theatre.
Based
at the internationally renowned living museum, Sovereign Hill, Adelphi
is a multi-purpose theatre company, which offer performances catering
to the needs of school and conference groups, which visit the park.
In
1998 the Adelphi Theatre Company won the Drama Victoria award for
the "Best Educational Programme and/or Event", which in itself was
a remarkable achievement for such a young company. The Adelphi Theatre
Company, formed in 1997, is a joint initiative between the Sovereign
Hill Education Service and the actors who work at Sovereign Hill.
They foresaw the need for a comprehensive drama program as part
of the educational experience offered to students attending the
historical park.
Since
then the popularity of the programmes and shows presented by Adelphi
have spoken for themselves, and the company continues to flourish.
The Adelphi Theatre Company has also performed at Drama Victoria's
Annual Conferences as well as Drama Australia's National conference
in Adelaide in 2000.
