Leaders in web standards conferences and education, Web Essentials, announce their first series of standards based web development workshops.
Learn standards based web design at hands on workshops in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane in July this year. Whether you're just starting out, or want to build on your existing skills, this is a tremendous opportunity to learn directly from widely respected experts Russ Weakley and John Allsopp.
The Program
The series will run over two days in each city. Participants can choose to attend either day, or both, according to their needs.
Day 1: Web Standards Foundations
Build a solid foundation in valid semantic XHTML/HTML markup and the core of cascading style sheets (CSS). After this workshop you will understand all the basic techniques of standards based web development, and be able to apply them confidently to design challenges.
Day 2: Advanced Web Standards Techniques
Develop a much more advanced understanding of CSS, working through some of the latest design techniques. This workshop teaches all the latest CSS page layouts, as well as styling forms, data tables and semantically correct navbars.

The Presenters
John Allsopp is a widely sought after presenter and writer, with numerous articles in prestigious print and online publications, and speaking credits such as South by Southwest, and the recent WWW2005 in China, Japan. An early member of the respected industry body, the Web Standards Project, and developer of leading web development software and training, John has over a decade of experience in web development training.
Russ Weakley's articles, such as SelectTutorial and ListTutorial, published at Max Design, are widely regarded as some of the best learning resources for CSS and standards based design. An in demand designer, with recent credits including Microsoft Australia and Amnesty International Australia, and speaker, Russ combines 18 years experience as a graphic designer, with many years commercial experience in web design.
