Free Internet Training at VICNET
Call VICNET on 9669-9710 to find out about free Internet training.  You are
eligible for free training if you don't have the Internet at home or work,
or if you are a low Internet user (less than 5 hours in the past month).
The free classes are "Welcome to the Net!" (beginners), "Introduction to
Email" and "Find it on the Net!".

WHY CAN'T THEY SEND ME MAIL?
Have you found that you cannot receive mail from some sources?  The reason
for this may be that the sending site has been listed on a spam index.

Two examples of such indices are MAPS Relay Spam Stopper (RSS) and ORBS, or
the Open Relay Behaviour-modification System. These are DNS-based databases
which contain lists of mail servers that are misconfigured to allow open
relay (that is, to allow third parties to relay mail through them). Many
ISPs (including VICNET) refer to these lists to prevent members from being
flooded with unsolicited email as spammers often exploit mail servers
configured as open relay.

Funding for Internet Training
The Victorian Government seeks applications for funding to provide Internet
training and access to the community.  Organisations are invited to apply
for funding of $10,000 under the Skills.net program.  The aim of the
Skills.net Program is to provide affordable Internet access and training to
all members of the community who do not have such access but with a
particular emphasis on the following groups: residents of rural and regional
Victoria, people with a disability, people over the age of 55, women, people
from a non-English speaking background, indigenous, and people who are
unemployed/underemployed.  A Skills.net funding round will open on Saturday
