Health-based Soil Investigation Levels, 3rd edition, 2001 provides
guidance on the health risk assessment of contaminated land. The
document gives information on the derivation of guidance values
(GVs) for a broad range of soil contaminants and advice on the use
of these GVs to develop health-based investigation levels for soils.
This new edition gives particular attention to the soil eating behaviours
of children and the behavioural and environmental management measures
to reduce these exposures.
The first edition of this monograph was published in 1996 by the
then National Environmental Health Forum. The enHealth Council was
formed with the launch of the National Environmental Health Strategy
in 1999 and has taken over the work of the Forum. The document was
updated in 1999 to reflect changes made under the National Environment
Protection Measure process managed by the National Environment Protection
Council.
