SPACED OUT is a non-profit science fiction club run by volunteers.
We are primarily a social group.
Membership is open to any science fiction fan who is gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or intersex.
Supportive friends are also welcome.
We are proud to support PFLAG Victoria as our official club charity.
Our activities include:
Monthly meetings and social events.
Quarterly magazine and annual anthology.
Mini conventions and guest speakers
Social events including bowling, theatre/movie visits, and pub nights
Dinners, barbecues and picnics
"Bent TV" and "Joy FM" spots and other media interviews/articles
Visits as speakers/presenters to other groups
Convention panels and writers' workshops
Pride March participation
Discussions and analysis of SF in TV, film, books and other media
Space auctions and charity fundraisers (for PFLAG Victoria)
Space news/activism
Our first mini-Convention was held in Melbourne on 11 June 2000.
We are happy to make contact with anyone around the planet (or from another one!)
We know of no other gay or lesbian science fiction club in Australia. If there are any others, please let us know!!!
