The Fishing Shack

For those that haven't seen it yet, The Fishing Shack is a half hour TV show, compered by 3AK's Glenn Knight.

Since 4/9/03, the show goes to air on Channel 31 @ 7.30pm Thursday with the show repeated @ 11.30am the following Saturday.

From 4/12/03 it will also be broadcast on Channel 10 throughout Regional Victoria at 11.30pm Thursday evenings (except 25th December - is moved to 1pm Saturday 27th December and New Years show will be shown 2pm Saturday 3rd January).

The Fishing Shack has four major segments, which are:

1. The Science of Fishing with Dr. Vyt Garneys of Cetec Australia. Dr. Vyt is a widely revered Environmental & Industrial Scientist. He covers a different aspect in all areas of fishing in Victoria.

2. Catch it & Cook it firstly with young Mike Hoogzard up and coming Fishing Journalist who explains the best rigs, baits and styles of fishing; then a way to prepare and cook the particular fish with Roy Palmer of Australian Seafood Industries.

3. VR Fish Report - exactly that, Ray Page presents the current activities of the Recreational Fishing Clubs and Individuals in Victoria.

4. Boat of the Week with John Stav Australia's biggest boat dealer. John presents an individual boat in profile demonstrating its features, dimensions and performance.

We then have incidental interviews or segments showing off individual products, innovations and particular aspects (like Charter Boats, Bait, Towing and Boat Ramp etiquette etc.)

We offer all fishing clubs and bodies a noticeboard for their upcoming events, like Fishing Competitions etc.... plus conduct a 4-6 week competition for viewers to win prizes like last months Gerber filleting Knife and multitool. Currently we're giving away 2 digital cameras on a caught on Kodak, send in your photo competition.

Science of Fishing with Dr. Vyt Garneys - fishing line performance

Science of Fishing with Dr. Vyt Garneys discusses fishing line and the performance requirements of polymer science. Knot strength Abrasion resistance, Shock Strength, Tensile Strength, Controlled Stretch. Limpness and Visibility, which colour is best in different circumstances.
