About the Equal Opportunity Commission Victoria
The Equal Opportunity Commission Victoria helps people resolve complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment and racial and religious vilification by offering a conciliation process that is:
- confidential
- impartial
- free
- simple
The Commission is not a tribunal or court. We help people to resolve complaints by mutual agreement. We do not prosecute, make judgments for or against either side, nor can we award compensation.
In addition to our complaint resolution service, we offer information, education and consultancy services, conduct research and provide legal and policy advice.
The Commission is a statutory body that reports to the Victorian Parliament through the State Attorney-General.
