Pictured: Australian rock band Powderfinger has released its new album titled Dream Days At The Hotel Existence. The band has announced a series of shows with fellow Australian rock stars Silverchair. The “Across The Great Divide” tour promises to be a massive series of shows by two of Australia's most popular bands. The tour starts on August 29 and runs until October 23.

This year APRA celebrated the most successful songwriters of this year plus the 25th Anniversary of the APRA Music Awards. The awards occurred on June 5 in Melbourne and we have the winners from the Awards. Pictures to come very soon.

One of the new features in Mediasearch will be a monthly profile of an Australian designer by our guest writer and stylist Tanja Mrnjaus. Her first spotlight is on SUBFUSCO, a label launched in 2005. It has attracted an array of fashion awards and interest thanks to its contemporary cool designs and intricate detailing. Check the Fashion Spotlights section for her article.


Australian fashion designer Camilla Franks has joined forces with 15 internationally acclaimed photographers to create a coffee table book titled Woman Of The World.

New CD and DVD reviews are included in both the music and film sections. Some of the recent good listens from Australian artists come from Claire Trentain, Justin Murphy, Rastawookie, Blue King Brown, Silverchair, Missy Higgins, Powderfinger, The Basics, and The Vasco Era.

The late Billy Thorpe lives on….a new song for radio and final live recording has been released as a double CD through Liberation Music.

Many Australian artists are soon on tour in Australia, including The Vasco Era, Whiskey Go Go's, Silverchair & Powderfinger (joint bill), Expatriate, John Butler Trio, Rastawookie, Borne, The Cops, The Basics, Mick Hart, and Katie Noonan.

International artists coming soon include: Xzibit, Hellogoodbye, Tilly And The Wall, The Academy Is, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Hellyeah, Lionel Richie, Steely Dan, Kaiser Chiefs, Klaxons, Snow Patrol, Bullet For My Valentine, Josh Groban, Maximo Park, The Shins, and The Taste of Chaos tour.

Sydney's State Theatre was graced by the elegant Hollywood star Cameron Diaz as she visited Australia again for a short trip to appear at the Green Carpet premiere of Shrek The Third. See our Film Spotlights section.

Big news for the Australian film scene as Clubland is set to become the first Australian film ever to open on the crucial July 4 holiday weekend in the United States.

There are a couple of big events coming soon to the Playboy Mansion. Check our Celebrity section for the event news. We'll also have news of a Playboy Concept Boutique store opening in London.

One of great icons of the city of Melbourne, the Society restaurant, was revived recently by a huge re-launch. Established by Guiseppe Codognotto in 1932 at 23 Bourke Street, one of Melbourne’s oldest Italian dining institutions now returns under the Dimattina Group. Live Earth - 7/7/07

Organisers recently announced details of the Australian curtain-raising show for the 7-continent, 24-hour Live Earth concerts to be held on 7/7/07. The Australian concert will be staged at Aussie Stadium in Sydney.

The global concert on July 7 will begin in Sydney and continue across all 7 continents, concluding with a show in the USA.
