Pictured: American band Tilly And The Wall arrive in Australia this week for some shows, Be sure to see one of the most energetic, fun-filled bands perform on Australia's East Coast before they head to Japan for the Summer Sonic Festival. This year APRA celebrated the most successful songwriters of this year plus the 25th Anniversary of the APRA Music Awards. The awards occurred on June 5 in Melbourne and we have the winners and pictures from the occasion. Seth Rogen (lead male star of the film) and Leslie Mann (his co-star and wife of director Judd Apatow) were in Melbourne recently to promote their film “Knocked Up”, and I had the good fortune of meeting them for a delightful chat about one of the funniest Americans films since Wedding Crashers. We have the feature interview in the Film Spotlights section. The film is on general release across Australia. New CD and DVD reviews are included in both the music and film sections. Some of the recent good listens from Australian artists come from Claire Trentain, Justin Murphy, Expatriate, Rastawookie, Blue King Brown, Silverchair, Missy Higgins, Powderfinger, The Basics, and The Vasco Era. Many Australian artists are soon on tour in Australia, including The Vasco Era, Whiskey Go Go's, Silverchair & Powderfinger (joint bill), Expatriate, Paul Kelly, John Butler Trio, Borne, The Cops, Mick Hart, The Butterfly Effect, and Katie Noonan. International artists coming soon include: Tilly And The Wall, The Academy Is, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Hellyeah, Lionel Richie, Regina Spektor, Steely Dan, Kaiser Chiefs, Klaxons, Snow Patrol, Bullet For My Valentine, Josh Groban, Maximo Park, The Shins, and The Taste of Chaos tour. Band to watch - Perth band Streetlight has solidified their eclectic mash of rock and experimental leanings into a unique and fresh sound. With a loyal local and online fan base and a reputation for their electric live shows, 2006 was a very successful year for the band. After selling out their last consecutive three hometown shows in Perth, and with national show dates booked for the end of July, 2007 looks set to be a big year of continued development for Streetlight. “Tom Ford, the product is very confident, very strong. Tome Ford, the man is also those things, but Tom Ford the man is also very shy. No one ever really believes that about me.
