Attorney general commits to human rights consultations

In an interview late last year with Jonathan Pearlman of the Sydney Morning Herald, the attorney general, Robert McClelland, confirmed his plans to enact into legislation an Australian charter of rights and responsibilities.

The legislation would be developed following a round of nationwide community consultations.
