Women's double scull

Marina Hatzakis and Bronwyn Roye have owned the seats in the Australia's double scull boat for half a decade. Veterans of Olympic and World Championship competition the pair had come under pressure from selectors to be split up but survived with strong performances at the national selection trials.

Hatzakis and Roye have crewed in a number of Australian boats including the quad scull and single scull throughout their long careers.

Together in the double scull the combination has performed strongly on the international stage since its third placing at the Lucerne World Cup in the lead-up to the Atlanta Olympics.

In Atlanta the pair was just pipped of a medal to finish fourth.

In the lead-up to Sydney, the pair again placed third at the Lucerne World Cup event last year but finished a disappointing sixth at the World Championships.

Their recent form suggests they will have to improve to be among the medals at the 2000 Olympics after finishing 10 seconds off the pace at the last World Cup regatta this season.
