Dy has been a planner for 15 years in North Queensland and regional SEQ.  She has qualifications in Geography, Urban and Regional Planning and management.  Dy is currently the Manager of Development Assessment at Toowoomba City Council.  She is also the Chair of the SEQ DA forum, the Chair of the Planning and Infrastructure group for the Western Region of Councils (Ipswich to Toowoomba) and a committee member of the Toowoomba Branch of the UDIA.  Dy has worked in both strategic planning and development assessment and most recently has focussed on process improvements both at local and regional level.

Dy has been a member of PIA for 16 years and looks forward to hearing from the planning community about issues and potential solutions.  She’s known to enjoy a good coffee or a glass of bubbles and planning her next holiday.

Linda Bradby

Linda was appointed as the Director, Regional Planning in the Department of Local Government, Planning and Sport and Recreation, Queensland in 2006.  She has successfully established the accelerated regional planning program in Queensland, more than doubling investment.  Linda is committed to working across the broader planning framework to integrate regional and on ground outcomes.   Following three years with the Department of Local Government and Planning in the mid 90s, Linda joined the Environmental Protection Agency to lead the southern region planning teams including South East Queensland, South West Queensland and Wide Bay Burnett, followed by several years leading the EPA’s regional planning program of coastal, marine park and conservation planning.  Before joining the Queensland Government Linda worked in three local governments in South East Queensland (Moreton Shire, Gold Coast City and Pine Rivers Shire) in development assessment and strategic planning.

Linda has a Graduate Diploma of Urban and Regional Planning from the Queensland University of Technology and is corporate member of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Kerry Doss is a town planner with 18 years of experience working for local government (NSW and QLD), State Government and as a consultant to all sectors of industry. He currently heads up Brisbane City Council’s Infrastructure Coordination Unit. Kerry was technical convenor for the 2004 State Conference, Convenor for the 2005 State Conference and currently represents PIA on Griffith University’s Professional Advisory Board to the School of Environmental Planning

Wendy holds degrees with honours in both Environmental Planning, and Law.  Prior to commencing her legal career, Wendy practiced for a number of years as a town planner in various workplaces including a national development company and a Queensland based consultancy.  She has also spent time in development assessment, as well as the legislation and policy development division at the Department of Local Government, Planning, Sport and Recreation.  She is currently a lawyer in the Deacons Environment and Planning team.

Jane has worked in the social planning sector for the past 8 years and has worked in several South East Queensland Local Government Authorities, including Caloundra, Maroochy and Caboolture. Jane is currently a Manager at Moreton Bay Regional Council and is the Queensland Convenor of the Social Planning Chapter. Jane has bachelor degrees with Honors in Environmental Science and Arts and post graduate qualifications in Business Adminstration. She is currently studying for her Masters of Urban of Regional Planning and has received a Diploma for completing the Company Directors Course from ACID. Jane is a member of the Local Government Managers Association and recently lead the first ever Queensland team to victory in the 2008 Australiasian LGMA Management Challenge.

Jeff is a Director of Humphreys Reynolds Perkins Planning Consultants. He has more than twenty-five years planning experience in Queensland.  His first five professional years were spent as Planning Officer for Pine Rivers Shire Council. From 1981 to 1987, he worked in a large multi-disciplinary consultancy (Cameron McNamara), leaving in 1987 to establish an independent practice.  The practice became Brannock Humphreys in 1988 and Humphreys Reynolds Perkins Planning Consultants in 1998.  Jeff has served on the Queensland Divisional Committee of PIA since 1995, as Vice President between 1998 and 2003, is the Queensland convenor of the Urban Design Chapter and an Adjunct Professor of Planning at University of Queensland.

Laura graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007 with Honours in a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning.  Laura has worked as a student planner for two years in Brisbane and is now a town planner with Craven Ovenden Town Planning, working predominantly on statutory planning and liquor and gaming licensing projects throughout Queensland.

Laura has been on the Queensland Young Planner Group Committee since 2007 and has recently been appointed the QYPG Convenor.

Bruce James

Bruce James has over 20 years experience in town planning, community development and transport policy and planning in local and state government in Western Australia, the UK and Queensland.  He holds a Master in Public Administration and an undergraduate degree in town planning.  He started in transport planning when he joined the Western Australian Department of Transport in 1990.  Bruce pioneered the application of Travel Demand Management in Western Australia and is known around Australia and in the UK for his pioneering work on the innovative TravelSmart programme.  The latest evidence shows that the TravelSmart communities in Perth last year travelled 99 million fewer kilometres.

Bruce worked for the City of Nottingham as Transport Investment Consultant for 10 months in 2003 and has been the Director Transport Planning with the Queensland Transport since the beginning of 2004.  A key strategy Bruce has pursued since being in Queensland is the advancement of land use transport integration through techniques such as enquiry by design.  He is the current chair of the Queensland Transport Planning Chapter.

Leo Jensen

Leo has been in the profession for 17 years.  He has worked in both the public and private sectors.  He is currently Manager Planning & Environment at Caboolture Shire (soon to be Moreton Bay Regional Council in March 2008), located in SEQ’s northern growth corridor between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Leo has been a PIA Corporate member since 1993, and has held various positions with state based PIA activities during this time including the Awards for Excellence, Continued Professional Development and State Conference programs, and has also held positions with the Gold Coast and Central Branches of the Division.  Leo is a past President (2004-2006), and is currently National Chair of PIA’s Local Government Planning Network (LGPN) (2006-2008), and is a PIA National Councillor.

Leo has a B.Urb & Reg Plan (Hons) from the University of New England, and Masters of Science (Environmental Management) from Griffith University.  He is a member of the National Trust Qld, Local Government Management Australia (LGMA), and the Australian Institute of Management (AIM).

Michael Kerry

Michael Kerry is the Director, Planning and Strategic Infrastructure, Springfield Land Corporation. Previously he was an Urban Management Adviser and the Executive Director, Office of Urban Management, for the Queensland Government.   Michael was responsible for establishing the Office in May 2004 and preparing a Regional Plan and Infrastructure Plan and Program for South East Queensland.  From 1992-2004 he was Divisional Manager, Urban Management, with the Brisbane City Council and was a Director of the South Bank Corporation and Brisbane City Enterprises Pty Ltd.

Michael has extensive experience in city and regional planning, major projects and urban development.  Before joining Brisbane City Council in 1992, he was Chief Planner for the West Australian Government and Chief Executive Officer of the Joondalup Development Corporation in Perth; Planning Manager for Metropolitan Adelaide in South Australia; Director of Planning in the Northern Territory and Senior Urban Planner with the Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation and National Capital Development Commission.

Michael holds tertiary qualifications in Geography, Economics, and Civic Design and is a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also an Adjunct Professor, University of Queensland.

Kim graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning at the end of 2006. Kim worked as a student town planner both in Brisbane and Cairns while completing her studies. She is now an urban planner with Urban Renewal Brisbane in Brisbane City Council and is planning for the futures of Woolloongabba Centre and the Eastern Corridor.

Kim has been on the Queensland Young Planners Group since 2004 and has recently been appointed the Queensland Representative on the National Young Planners Group.

Neil Sipe

Neil has been the Head of the School of Environmental Planning at Griffith University since 2002.  He has a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University and his research interests include the influence of land use and urban form on travel behaviour, the challenges in implementing performance (or results) based planning and the use of geographic information systems to manage and control mosquitoes.

I am attaching a photo of him from our School website - it is not the one he wants to use but I have been waiting for him to give me another one and I probably won't see him before your deadline - he'll just have to put up with this one!

Brett Skyring holds three degrees in Business Administration, Environmental and Community Health; Urban and Regional Planning.  Brett has been involved in community development, social planning and town planning for over ten years and is Director of Panther Consultant Planners based on the gold coast.

Brett enjoys good red wine and scotch, music (loud and classic, blues and jazz), being out on two wheels (motorised and human powered) and sees his involvement in the QLD committee as a means of networking as he is new to SEQ in terms of the planning profession and as a former region based planner would like to see more support form the PIA in regional services (which is slowly happening) and the intellectual challenges facing planning at present.

Greg Tupicoff currently works for Delfin Lend Lease based at the Forest Lake project.  Greg is a former PIA committee member for the Northern Territory Division where he was Treasurer for a short stint before returning to Queensland to work for Ipswich City Council and then Delfin Lend Lease.

Greg is married, and he will become a father for the first time in 2006 and is a passionate supporter of all types of sport. Planning interests are varied, but primarily include a developing passion for improved regulation, master planning and social planning outcomes.

John has been a practising urban planner since 1982 in State government, local government and private consultancy, with experience in Queensland and Victoria and project work in China.  Prior to joining Humphreys Reynolds Perkins in late 2002 John was the Manager Urban Development at the City of Darebin, a municipality of approximately 130,000 people in metropolitan Melbourne.  This followed 11 years as a planner and manager (Manager Strategic Planning) at Redland Shire Council in South East Queensland. 

John has a Bachelor of Regional & Town Planning (Hons) from the University of Queensland, and is a Corporate Member of the Planning Institute of Australia. He also has a Master of Business and an Associate Diploma in Real Estate Valuation.

Gary White
National Councillor

Gary is the Deputy Director General, Planning, Department of Infrastructure and Planning.  Gary has held senior roles with Ipswich City Council, Gold Coast City Council and the Redland Shire Council.

Gary has a strong passion for regional planning/town centre revitalization strategies, and has undertaken study tours in relation to the regional planning system in the USA and Canada.  In 1992, Gary headed a 30 delegate touring group of the same region.

Cliff enjoys the challenges of his planning position in Natural Resources and Mines and is keen to see planners increase their knowledge of the principles and practices involved in natural resource management and the allocation of State assets.  He has worked in South Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland, mainly in local government with periods as a consultant and with the Commonwealth and State and Territory governments.  He also has an interest in travel - at least every six months.

Cliff looks forward to making a contribution to the deliberations of the Division Committee particularly in relation to policy issues and the 2006 Workshop focussed on urban growth precincts with Ripley Valley being a case study.

In any spare time (!), she is a passionate cyclist and swimmer.
