After a tough year with Fitzroy in 1996, Matthew Primus joined the AFL’s new boys, Port Adelaide.
Upon joining Port Power, Primus was made Deputy Vice Captain and took on the role of Port’s number one ruckman.
Primus played in every one of Port’s games in 1997 and was a key in the team’s excellent season.
After a successful 1998 season, 1999 proved to be a disaster as Primus severely injured his knee in only the second game of the season and missed the club’s first ever finals game.
Back to full fitness in 2000, Primus played all but one game but could not lift the team into the finals.
After missing Port’s first finals campaign Primus is highly motivated to bring success to Port Power in the 2001 season.
