Plays professionally in Japan for the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes.
According to his Osaka manager, NAKAMURA has good wrists and a technique to hit the ball to the opposite field. He is renowned for his big swing and the manner in which he throws the bat following contact. His manager is happier to see him use his 'big swing' rather than a contact half-swing which inevitably leads to infield ground balls.
NAKAMURA first played for the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1992. His first two seasons saw him only play 19 games for just two home runs, but in his third season, he got 192 at bats and averaged .281 . At this stage NAKAMURA began using the full swing and started connecting - in the following five seasons he tallied 128 home runs and 384 RBI's .
In the 2000 season, NAKAMURA has accumulated 124 hits at an average of .276. He has hit 37 home runs and driven in 106 runs. (
As of 14/09/00, NAKAMURA was leading the Pacific League in home runs and RBI's . He was also third in hitting for total bases with 259. On the other hand, he leads the league in grounding into double plays and second in strikeouts .
