Displaying Archived Resources

To display an archived instance and make it accessible through the public interface to the Archive you must go to the Display Details screen. This screen also allows you to add notes to the displayed "title entry page", create a link to a copyright and/or disclaimer statement and to create lists of issues or other labelling.

Displaying links to archived instances on the public title entry page

To locate the archived instance and set it to display on the title entry page:

  1. Go to the Display Details screen
  2. Click on Instances
  3. Click on the link to the instance which will be labelled Home page by default. (You can change this label to Title or Site by selecting the label you want from the drop-down box.)
  4. Click on the Display check box next to the instance to tick that you want the instance to display on the title entry page
  5. Click on Preview to view a preview display of the title entry page
  6. Click Edit
  7. Click the green Archive button. You will see a screen allowing you to indicate if you want the title entry page to display in the title and subject listings and a collection title page (if the title is attached to a collection).
  8. Click the second green Archive and save button.

Nb: if you click the Save button on the Display Details screen this will save your changes in PANDAS but will not display the changes on the public title entry page. This allows you to work on the display details at your convenience. When the display is ready to be made public you should click on the green Archive button and the second green Archive and save button.

Creating issues for serial publications

You can set up labels on the title entry page for serial issues. This function works for titles with a serial or integrating format only. These will list below the instance links on the title entry page (if the instance links is clicked to display, which is optional). You can also add groups with user defined lables under which you can arrange the serial issue listings.

To add a serial label:

  1. Click on Issues on the Display Details screen
  2. Click the Add Issue button
  3. Type in the label in the Issue Name box
  4. Copy and paste the URL for the archived issue in the Issue URL box (to do this you may have to go to the Instance tab to click on the instance like to open the display instance).
  5. Make sure the date displaying in the Archived drop-down box is the date of the instance to which the issue belongs - the default will usually be the one you want.
  6. Click the Add button
  7. The issue will now display. Click on the check box to tick the issue to display on the title entry page. There are also up and down arrows which allow you to change the order of issues, and a red to delete the issue link. If you need to edit the issue details click on the edit icon .

To add a group label:

  1. Go to the Issues tab on the Display Details screen
  2. Click on the Add Group button
  3. Type the label you want in the Group Name box
  4. Optionally, you can add a description of the group if required in the Group Note box
  5. Click the Add button
  6. The group will display on the Issues tab. There are also up and down arrows which allow you to change the order of groups, and a red to delete the group label. If you need to edit the group details click on the edit icon .
  7. To add an issue to a group, edit the issue and select the group from the Group drop-down selection box .

To add a link to a copyright statement:

  1. Go to the Copyright tab on the Display Details screen
  2. Select the appropriate label for a copyright statement, disclaimer statement or both, from the drop-down box
  3. Copy and paste the archvied URL for the copyright/disclaimer statement in the Copyright URL box
  4. If required you can add additional information in the Copyright notes box. This is for free text notes, however if you wish to add additional hypertext links you can use HTML tags to create links in this notes field.
  5. This link to the copyright statement and any note you include will appear at the bottom of the title entry page

To change the display title and add a free text note at the top of the title entry page:

  1. Go to the Top tab on the Display Details screen
  2. Here you can edit the title that will display on the title entry page. This title defaults from the registered title on PANDAS, however is you change it for display it will not change the title registered title.
  3. If required you can add additional information in the Introductory note box. This is for free text notes, however if you wish to add additional hypertext links you can use HTML tags to create links in this notes field.
